One nominee to fill seat left vacant by confirmation of the attorney general.
On Tuesday, President Biden announced his first list of judicial nominations to be sent to the Senate for approval. Many of the president’s picks previously served as public defenders and one was formerly a prosecutor in the military.
District of Columbia U.S. District Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, has been tapped to fill the appeals court vacancy created by Attorney General Garland’s confirmation as attorney general. She was previously a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Stephen Beyer.
President Biden said of his choices, “This trailblazing slate of nominees draws from the very best and brightest minds of the American legal profession. Each is deeply qualified and prepared to deliver justice faithfully under our Constitution and impartially to the American people.”
